hey everyone

Good morning good morning!

I trust this finds you well.

I'm still a student at Southwestern College, nearing the foreboding graduation (God willing, to be  within a year).  In my time here, I've gotten to meet various builders who are active in ministry, and are very willing to share with me their wonderful experiences from their recollections of years past (in the recent and not too recent years past).

Meeting other builders (especially those in ministry) has been an encouragement to me (and other students), especially in person (as opposed to just meeting online, like here, but it's all good too=).

Anyway, the students atSouthwestern College are still kept plenty busy being involved (or overcommitted, as professors would sometimes comment that they are). There is always a artsy fartsy performance by one of the various musically talented groups (e.g. A Capella choir, orchestra, jazz combos, theatre), just this week, the theatre produced a spectacularly dramatic production called "Urinetown" (supposedly a pun on 'You're in Town').

But yet, there is also a lot of service done for the community by the school. Both leadership and discipleship students serve the community here in the various activities/events they plan both on and off campus.

Our campus is also striving to go green, along with the national effort across universities and colleges all across the US, in the country's attempt to Go Green!!!

There’s been numerous small groups set up in the past few semesters, as well as the established groups like The One Thing (TOT) and prayer group who are also growing from strength to strength. Just recently, a new group for guys, known as Manistry (it was picked over some other not as good choices) has been set up.

With all the fellowship that’s going on in Southwestern College, we would be glad if anyone came to visit with us to learn and grow together, from one another.

Yours truly,

Albert O. II

Greetings from Illinois

Hello everyone! This is Jeremiah Thompson, as some of you can remember I worked in the Campus Ministry office from 2003-04 while I was a US2 Missionary with the UMC. I am currently the Associate Pastor at the Mahomet UMC in Mahomet, IL (a town just to the west of Champaign Illinois, and about 2 hours south of Chicago.) I hope everyone is well. I know many of you are in the Chicago Area in seminary and I would be delighted to see anyone. My wife and I love guests. Also, I am currently working towards full ordination in the UMC, having been commissioned in the UMC in 2007, if anyone is going through the process and would like some advice, or other support I would be happy to help. I hope to hear from some of you soon. Take care and blessings,

Jeremiah

Checking in from Chicago

Hey fellow Builders in Ministry. While I haven't entered the blogging world yet, I am happy to connect with you all in yet another online relationship. I hope my digital greeting brings you good tidings. Things are well here. I am rounding the corner on the second year of my MDiv and will have another year of classes before graduation in May of 2010. I have a big summer planned as I will be commissioned a provisional elder at annual conference and then will tie the knot with my fiance Ashley on Aug. 1. Ashley is on track to be a deacon and I am dragging her back to Kansas with me when we are done with school. Who knows a year from now we could be coming to a church near you!

Anywho....I wanted to see if any of you would be interested in a Sojo community night at Annual Conference. I imagine there will be a few others around and I would love to reconnect. Ashley and I are trying to lock down some friends so we don't end up being the friendless pastor couple (shudder). Let me know what you think, and we can just set a time to meet somewhere in S-town.

Hope you all are well.
Adam T.

BIM member Beth Wilke

Hi Fellow Builder in Ministry.
After 15 years as serving as Director of Ministries at Winfield First United Methodist Church, I felt that God was calling me in a new direction. I attended Licensing School last June and am now a Licensed Local Pastor . I was appointed as Associate Pastor at our church last November. This summer I will begin a five year journey through Course of Study. At this time my plan is to continue as a Licensed Local Pastor. I am on the BIM facebook and would love to have you join me there. Also, I would love to hear about your ministry here on the BIM blog. Beth

Builders in Ministry's new blog

The builders in ministry blog is a place for alumni and friends of Southwestern College in all forms of ministry to share their ministry with others for encouragement, mutual support, networking, possible collaboration, and fellowship. The dream is that the love and learning of Builders in Ministry week can continue all year round. Also, we have a common pilgramage as Builders and athough we are scattered accross the globe we are still one in our desire to serve the Lord. Please come to the blog with a summary of your ministry and invite others to join in.
